Every personal leadership book I have ever read tells me to write my goals daily. But let’s get real. How many of us actually write our goals daily? I never wrote down my goals daily in the past. I also never achieved much either. One day, I began writing my goals. It seemed like some magical power I had over myself. I suddenly started accomplishing the minor goals I set for myself. It was like magic!
Years ago, I was writing my goals down on a legal pad. I got up, left my legal pad unattended as I went to the restroom. When I got back a few minutes later, a co-worker was reading my goals out loud to other co-workers and ridiculing me and my goals. It was like a scene from a fourth-grade classroom, but with adults…or at least people of adult age.
I learned that day that ridicule hurts.
